Conviction – Empowerment To See The Spirituality of God’s Law.
Welcome back again,
I remember a few years back when I used to join a group of Christian sisters, who had come from different parts of the world to study at the Bible College at Notting Hill; and they decided to set up a shop kitchen outreach in central London; where people could just walk in and fellowship and dine with them. When they had been there for sometime and discovered that the cases of people who walked in were getting worse by the day, be they rich or poor; they decide to indefinitely go on a fast and prayer regime on Thursdays. So I used to just join them for the prayer sessions.
So, one faithful Thursday when I walked into the shop, the sister who was the coordinating Pastor came up to me and said “you are going to do the preaching today”. I was like “huuh”. She was literarily saying I had to get up within 5 minutes and give a message. So as soon as I stood up to start, I decided to use some time for us to just worship the Lord while I pray (inwardly) at the same time for a word from the Lord. While doing this, a sex worker (prostitute) walk in, bloodied on the face and being followed in be the guy who in his own evil way controlled her on the street (her pimp).
Seeing this, the thought of what message to give I guess took back stage, as the lady (sex work) let’s call her Sister Jane started to insist on sharing her own song; the sight of her and her insistence on sharing her own song had already made me to be crying on the inside, while on the outside I was giving the pimp a bad look that told him not to try going near her. So I coincided and let her have her way.
As soon as she opened her mouth to sing her song “One day at a time sweet Jesus” none of us in the room could hold back our tears as we sang along in a supportive way. Then the Holy Spirit took over
When she finished her ’cry-singing’, I took over the ‘cry-singing’ and the rest of the people joined in the ‘cry-worship’ then all of a sudden people just started walking in from the street and confessing their sins. One or two I had to ask to speak quietly but confess deep inside to God as what they were revealing to me could surely get them in trouble, but they couldn’t hold back even in their tailor made expensive designer suits. All they could say is “how do we know this Jesus”. The ‘sister Jane’s singing had spontaneously brought down the Holy Spirit of conviction and Holy Spirit inspired repentance to bare upon the whole environment of the shop which made people to just keep walking in and start confessing their sins.
In the series The Sacrifices of God Are A Broken spirit: A Broken And A Contrite Heart we will be looking at:

Conviction – Empowerment To See The Spirituality of God’s Law.
.Just as insufficient power from a dead battery to the starter motor of a vehicle renders it unable to start itself; as no food can in any way provide energy for a dead man; although it is the function food to give energy;
Spiritual truth cannot provide Spiritual liveliness to a mind that is dead to righteousness; as such the mind is unable to capture the essence of the truth and similarly, Spiritual truth cannot make an unregenerate will to believe.
So that ‘Seeing they may see and not perceive, and hearing they may hear and not understand; lest they should turn, and their sins be forgiven them.’”
And He said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables? The sower sows the word. And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts. These likewise are the ones sown on stony ground who, when they hear the word, immediately receive it with gladness; and they have no root in themselves, and so endure only for a time. Afterward, when tribulation or persecution arises for the word’s sake, immediately they stumble. Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word, and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.” (Mark 4:12-19)
Prayers:
We continually pray:
- O Lord, that as we are convicted of our own sins; the Holy Spirit of conviction and Holy Spirit inspired repentance will flow through us to others in our surroundings and beyond.
- O Lord, that The Holy Spirit will open the eye of our heart in order that we may see the true state and condition of our heart.
- O Lord, that The Holy Spirit will show us our condemnation; that we may be able to SEE OUR SINS; FEEL, REALISE AND ACKNOWLEDGE OUR GUILT AND CONDEMNATION IN A GODLY SENSE.
- O Lord, that The Holy Spirit will stamp the Word of God deep into our inner being so as to strike at any fortress of fear or ‘evil boldness’ and convert it to HOLY SPIRIT INSPIRED BOLDNESS.
- That deeply in our inner being, Holy Spirit, will constantly convict us of our sins by the Blood of Jesus, in the Name of Jesus

One day at a time, sweet Jesus
Thats all I’m asking of You
Just give me the strength to do everyday
What I have to do
Yesterday’s gone, sweet Jesus
And tomorrow may never be mine
God help me today
Show me the way
One day at a time
I’m only human
I’m just a woman
Help me believe in what I could be
And all that I am
Oh, show me the stairway
That I have to climb
Lord, for my sake, teach me to take
One day at a time
One day at a time, sweet Jesus
That’s all I’m asking of You
Just give me the strength to do everyday
What I have to do
Yesterday’s gone, sweet Jesus
And tomorrow may never be mine
Lord help me today
Show me the way
One day at a time
Oh, do you remember
When You walked among men
Well, Jesus, You know
If You’re looking below
That it’s worse now than then
Oh, there’s pushing and shoving
And it’s crowding my mind
So, Lord, for my sake
Teach me to take
One day at a time
One day at a time, sweet Jesus
That’s all I’m asking of You
Just give me the strength to do everyday
What I have to do
Oh, yesterday’s gone, sweet Jesus
And tomorrow may never be mine
Lord jelp me today
Show me the way
One day at a time
Lord, help me today
Show me the way
One day at a time
One day at a time
